Celebrating the last 50 years of Sheringham Town from 1975 to 2025
These three artists: John Craske, Cecil Hewitt and Tom Armes lived in Sheringham at various points in their lives but probably never met. Craske was born and went to school here. Hewitt spent long holidays in the family’s coastal home. Armes retired early to Sheringham for the ‘more congenial air”. They had very different social backgrounds and life experiences, but all had a supportive family network and the drive and ability to create a successful artistic life.
All also had health conditions that altered their expected life choices, yet each was able to use the limitation as an opportunity to develop their craft.
