Seaside Through Time
Would you like to go on a journey through time?
Over the years Sheringham has changed from a small fishing village into a holiday resort. Click on the video to see just how some things changed over the years.
What’s in the case?
Each year we have a summer exhibition. One of our recent exhibitions was all about the seaside. Every year people come on holiday to Sheringham and they usually bring a few things from home. They might put the things they will need in a suitcase or a backpack. Look at this old suitcase which is in Sheringham Museum. What can you see?
I can see –
- Book – Sheringham Guide
- Swimming Hat
- Beach Towel
Can you think of the ten things that you would most like to pack in your suitcase or backpack?
Some of the things that you might like to take on holiday will be the same as the items that are in the picture of the old suitcase. But some will be very different. I don’t suppose you would be packing a rubber flowery swimming hat!
Here are some ideas of the extra things that you might put in your backpack today. See what else you can think of.
- Sun cream
- Summer shoes
- Bucket and spade
Things to Make and Do
The world is full of interesting things to see and do. Here at Sheringham Museum we have lots of them, so we have picked a few projects for junior detectives to get started on. Play what’s in the suitcase, Design a beach bucket, write a seaside story, make a paper boat, make flags or a chatterbox!
